CAMAS DESIGNS

Erin Shackelford is owner of Camas Designs, a wedding and event floral design company located on San Juan Island, WA.  Erin spent over twenty years working in the field of human resources for various medical and biotech companies. At the height of her career, Erin shocked many, including herself, by walking away. In 2016, she formed Camas Designs and allowed her passion for floral design to become her career.  She has since provided floral designs for weddings and events from California to Seattle but mostly in the beautiful set of islands she now calls home, the San Juan’s. Erin’s passion is flowers and their ability to convey feeling, emotions and meanings beyond the realm of words. She is currently an industry liaison to the Seattle Wholesale Growers Market and feels fortunate to know so many of the farmers that grow the flowers that are part of her designs.  Erin lives with her husband, two dogs and various barn cats on San Juan Island, WA.

Jesalyn Pettigrew

MOSSY GATE FLOWER FARM

Jesalyn is a single mom to two young boys, native Washingtonian, and sci-fi binger. A background in all things customer service and a degree in business management she stumbled across Flower Farming during a major crossroads in her life and has spent almost every waking hour dedicated to building her own farm/business for the last 6 years - from scratch, with no prior knowledge. Her farm focuses on annual cut flowers ranging from fancy tulips and daffodils to asters, zinnia, sunflowers, and much much more but her main crop is Dahlias. This year bodes 1500 plants and over 70 varieties. She sells on her charming roadside stand in Mount Vernon, WA - through a floral wholesale distributor in Seattle and is the first flower farmer to sell through the Puget Sound Food Hub Cooperative - building a flower program to reach out to regional restaurants, farm stands, grocery stores, and other produce customers. Founding member of Genuine Skagit Valley, featured in Hobby Farms magazine, and an avid conservationist she is just honestly obsessed with becoming a successful flower grower with strong work ethics and quality product that can facilitate her being self-employed so she can be available for her two boys.

Quynh Nguyen

PINK AND POSEY

Quynh is the artist behind Pink & Posey. She is the founder of The Paper Florist Facebook Group and The Posey Box. She specializes in building bouquets and arrangements for brides and commercial window displays. Her work has been featured on Nordstrom, Fran's Chocolate, Creative Live, Lia Griffith's Artist Interview Series, The Handmade Showroom, Grapheme Letterpress, Pho Bac Seattle, Oscar & Co, Caroline Tran Photography, 100 Layer Cake, KING5 New Day, Seattle Evening Magazine and Refined Seattle.

My paper flower story began five years ago while coordinating a wedding. The bride asked if I could also create a paper flower bouquet. When I reflected on it afterwards, I realized that the best part for me was creating the paper flowers, and I thought, Could I turn this into a business?

When I started out, I thought my focus would continue to be weddings and special events, with personal custom orders rounding things out. However, as my business grew, there were other opportunities that allowed me to showcase my work. I discovered that I loved doing large commercial installations with national brands like Nordstroms, Frans Chocolate, Jo Malone, and many others, and more importantly, I found a huge love in helping other entrepreneurs build their business.
